Making an appearance on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd on Thursday morning, David Carr discussed all the latest on his younger brother Derek's on-going contract extension talks with the Oakland Raiders.

“I think they both want to get this done,” Carr said. “I think that's the thing – I kind of talked about this over on the [NFL] Network the other day – both sides want to get this done. These things take time. There's a lot going into this. They have a [Las] Vegas move going on.”

The elder Carr pointed out that another complication in the negotiations is making sure Derek is properly compensated, but also ensuring that his cap number isn't so large that the Raiders don't have the money to sign all the other necessary players, like Khalil Mack.

As the star quarterback has previously stated, the goal is to ink a new deal by the end of July.

“Hopefully they can get it done before training camp because, honestly, that's the one thing that, just with that contract talk, Derek doesn't want to be a distraction to his team ever. He definitely doesn't want to be a distraction or answer questions about it in August when they're getting ready to try and go win a Super Bowl.”
