Khris Davis will always remember career homerun No. 182. The A’s slugger crushed a monster homer after a young boy from the Make-A-Wish Foundation signed his jersey in the Athletics’ 9-0 shut out of the Rangers.

The A's hosted twelve children from Make-A-Wish Bay Area before the series opener against the Rangers. Anthony Slocumb, 10, is in remission from a rare cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis. While the young boy was just hoping for an autograph from Davis, his favorite baseball player, he was beside himself when Davis asked for HIS signature. In blue ink, young Anthony signed the back of KD’s jersey.

Fast forward to the bottom of the third for an emotional at bat where Davis was still wearing the autographed gear.  He “Khrushed” a 438-foot homerun that hit a suite-level window behind left-center field. Davis said he just wanted to put a smile on Anthony’s face.

For Davis, that was home run No. 37. He is one back of the leader, J.D. Martinez, in Boston (38). Davis is seeking his third straight 40-homerun season.
