The Film Buff

Combining a love for movies and sports

Growing up I always loved sports, but when I was in high school, I had another dream: to become a film director. Let’s be more specific, an Oscar Winning Film Director. I started out in theater during 5th grade, and continued until by freshman year of college, but it wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I found a true love in directing.  I had always been incredibly picky when it came to watching films. I’d either critique or admire a director’s style choices, the acting direction and the cinematography.

I didn’t get into the film school that I had hoped for out of high school, but discovered that another school I was planning to attend, San Francisco State, had a pretty darn good one.

During my time in college, I also discovered the broadcasting department and made the realization that I could transition into television and also include my other love into a career: Sports.

For the past 15 years, I have been in the broadcasting industry and have been on-air for the past 12. I love covering sports and being able to talk about the teams that I grew up watching and cheering for, but still there was something missing. The passion for films and directing has never gone away, and with this blog I have figured a way to incorporate both.

Sports and Movies provide entertainment, and often, these two go hand in hand. Thus, I present to you a space where I will share my passion and thoughts about both. If Sports and Entertainment are black and white, I’m going to focus on the gray Be it films, television, acting, and music; when the entertainment world meets the sports world, The Film Buff will be there!

I know I’m not an Oscar winning film director…yet, but there’s still plenty of time for that dream.

Hope you enjoy!
