In an extensive piece with Peter King in The MMQB, new 49er cornerback detailed his decision to join the rival of his former employer, the Seattle Seahawks.

One reason for Sherman’s move to Santa Clara was the chance to stick it to his old club:

Sherman: I’m vengeful in that way.

King: That’s what it sounded like. But I wanted to make sure. I asked him to repeat that.

Sherman: Vengeful. I love the fan base to death, and I loved playing there. It was such a great opportunity. I helped the organization get to a great place and stay there. But now it’s like I abandoned them. People are out there burning my jersey. Come on. I’m not the one who let me go. They let me go. I didn’t abandon anybody.

Sherman then took to Twitter to drop some fact about the situation, which resulted in him inking a three-year contract that could be worth up to $39.15 million.
