In the wake of a report that Matt Ryan thought former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was too slow with his play-calling in the team's Super Bowl collapse, the new 49ers head coach defended himself during a training camp press conference on Thursday afternoon.

“We were the only team in the NFL that went two straight years without one delay of game and I've never done that in my entire career,” Shanahan said. “I don't think many other teams have.”

“So, there was times we did better than others,” Shanahan added. “But I was really proud of those guys on offense, which is a lot credit to Matt and the rest of the guys that regardless of when we did get it in, two years straight without out a delay of game, being the only team to do that even one year.I think was a pretty impressive task.”
