Giants claim RHP Ryan Dull off waivers from the A’s

Dull produced a 12.00 ERA in three stints in Oakland in 2019

The Giants have scooped up ex-A's reliever Ryan Dull, the team announced on Monday morning, about a week before the clubs face off in Round 1 of The Bay Bridge Series. Dull will report to Triple-A Sacramento.

Dull, who was lugging around a 12.00 ERA in seven appearences for the A's, was designated for assignment by Oakland on Saturday when the AL West team picked up catcher Dustin Garneau from the Angels. Dull had been pitching for the A's Triple-A affilaite for much of the season, running up a 5.45 ERA in 30 outings. The right-hander, who represents a low-risk flyer for the Giants, did post 50 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.

Farhan Zaidi, president of baseball ops, will be hoping that the orgnizations pitching coaches can help Dull regain the form that saw him post a 2.42 ERA in 70 outings back in 2016.
