Kwon Alexander, who for much of the season was thought to be lost for the year, has officially been activated off IR, clearing the way for his involvement in Saturday's divisional round matchup with the Vikings.

The move was heavily foreshadowed throughout the week. The linebacker who had been sidelined with a torn pec, was conspicuously absent from the club's last injury report on Thursday.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan strongly hinted at Alexander's surprise activation back on Tuesday when he addressed reporters.

"He's a week ahead of scheudle than we anticpated," Shanahan said. "He's been cleared by the medical staff. Now it's just about how he looks on the field."

Alexander takes the roster spot of defensive lineman Kentavius Street (knee), who heads to IR.
