49ers commit $500k to help community amid coronavirus outbreak

Team plans to help workforce and most vulnerable as pandemic grows

With the effects of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the Bay Area and far beyond, the San Francisco 49ers have announced the organization is donating $500k to support both their workforce and the most vulnerable populations in the community.

In a statement by the 49ers president Al Guido offered the following:

"Our collective strength, resilience, and compassion for one another will see us through these unprecedented times."

The 49ers have said that $49,000 of the $500,000 sum will go toward feeding children and elderly people in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.     

"We are here for you,” Guido added.  “And everyone in our community, as we take this challenge head on and work to overcome it together."
