In the wake of the San Francisco Giants’ acquisition of Evan Longoria, executive vice president of baseball operations Brian Sabean joined “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill to detail the acquisition and preview the next big move.

“The next shoe to drop will fill a need in the outfield,” Sabean said on 95.7 The Game. “If it’s a center fielder, there you go. Or if it’s more of an accomplished bat or run producer, that would be the move.”

Sabean called this the most “glacial” offseason during his 31 years as an executive, but said he’d like to take care of the outfield by Jan. 1.

“Whether we can accomplish that, I’m not sure,” Sabean said. “I know that we’re involved in a lot of conversations that could come to a head.”

Asked if there’s any possibility that Brandon Belt, whose 2017 was curtailed by a concussion, is on the trade block, Sabean said that's not the case."

“I fully expect Belt will be on the Opening Day roster and be a starter,” Sabean said. “Has it been asked in passing? Perhaps. But the conversations we’re having are more in an add than a subtract situation.”
