Calling into “Joe, Lo & Dibs” on Monday morning, Jerry Rice was able to pluck at least one positive note from the 49ers’ lopsided 43-16 loss to the Seahawks: the fire of Kyle Shanahan.

Late in the third quarter, TV cameras cameras caught the head coach cursing at line judge Walt Coleman IV, earning a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Shanahan appeared unhappy with an offside call on linebacker Elijah Lee.

“Yesterday, for the first time, I really saw some emotion from Kyle Shanahan,” Rice said with a laugh on 95.7 The Game. “It was the play that he totally disagreed with and he was upset.”

Here’s a look at the scene, which is NSFW:

“That’s what I want to see on the football field,” Rice continued. “That’s what I want to see on the football field. That’s what I want to see at the facility, in the classroom — all of that.”

“Because the players are going to follow him. And, if he’s emotionally into the game and he wants to win like that, they’re going to do the same thing."
