The 49ers will be taking no immediate action in the wake of the news that linebacker Reuben Foster has been formally charged with felony domestic violence.

About 90 minutes after the Santa Clara County District Attorney Office announced the charge, the 49ers issued the following statement:

“The 49ers organization is aware of today’s disturbing charges regarding Reuben Foster. We will continue to follow this serious matter. Reuben is aware that his place in our organization is under great scrutiny and will depend on what is learned through the legal process.”

The charged against Foster, who arrested for a Feb. 11 incident involving his 28-year-old live-in girlfriend, are jarring.

Per the DA, Foster, who’s facing five to 11 years, “dragged (the victim) by her hair, physically threw her out of the house, and punched her in the head 8 to 10 times.”
