A favorite has emerged, in the pursuit of Madison Bumgarner, three-time World Series champ, per Jon Morosi of MLB.com, MLB Network and Fox Sports.

Morosi reported on Monday morning that it is far from a lock that the Giants will part ways with Bumgarner, who earns $12 million in his final season of his deal, before spring training. If they do, Milwaukee is the prohibitive favorite.

Morosi ID’d the Brewers as the “most likely destination” should Farhan Zaidi, new president of baseball ops, make the move:

“The Brewers and Giants have had substantive communication about a Bumgarner trade this winter, sources say, and the Brewers are continuing their internal deliberations about how much they're willing to give up in order to acquire the three-time World Series hero.”

As Morosi detailed, the clubs could be logical fit as trade partners. The Giants badly need outfield help and three of the Brewers top six prospects, per MLB Pipeline, are outfielders.
