In the wake of Jimmy Garoppolo's season-wrecking ACL tear, the San Francisco 49ers are promoting Nick Muellens off the practice squad to serve as C.J. Beathard's backup and hunting around for extra arms on the scrap heap.

The team will work out at least five QBs on Monday, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Per an intrepdid fan, Twitter user @TravTheSav_, the Niners are also working out Landry Jones, the ex-Steeler.

Oh, and add a couple more names, including a former Raider.

Matt Moore has already been scratched off the list, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

It's no easy feat to find quality quarterbacks at this juncture on the schedule, as the following composite numbers underscore.

Mullens, who was undrafted out of Southern Miss last spring, originally inked a free-agent deal with the club on May 4.
