Mike Brown, the gregarious and universally-respected deputy of Steve Kerr, has interviewed for the New York Knicks vacant head-coaching job, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Landing interviews (and top gigs) is nothing new for Kerr’s associate head coaches. Alvin Gentry, Kerr’s first underboss with Golden State, is currently guiding the Pelicans against the Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals.

Luke Walton, who Brown replaced in the summer of 2016, is in charge of the rising Lakers.

Former Grizzlies coach David Fizdale, former Cavaliers coach David Blatt are among Browns contenders for the job. So is Kerr’s predecessor, Mark Jackson, the current ESPN broadcaster.
