Report: Jeter-led group buys the Miami Marlins

Jeter will run business and baseball operations

Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria has reportedly agreed to sell the club to a group led by former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and New York businessman Bruce Sherman for $1.2 billion, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Sherman will be the managing general partner for the Marlins, while Jeter will helm the business and baseball sides of the franchise, Jackson reported. The ownership group includes about 16 investors and Jeter is expected to dish out $25 million of his own money.
