Klay Thompson, who’s spent his entire eight-year NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, is quietly headed toward free agency. Per The Athletic’s Ethan Strauss, the Splash Bro isn’t expected to go anywhere, as has widely been assumed by observers of the league.

Strauss penned the following on the taciturn Thompson:

"While Thompson has indicated an interest in remaining a ‘Warrior for life,’ his return cannot just be taken for granted. Still, the expectation within and outside the Warriors is that Klay isn't leaving. This is why you don't hear about any team besides the Lakers gearing up for the Summer of Klay."

Earlier this week, Thompson’s impending free agency briefly moved into the spotlight when LeBron James took to Instagram to praise Klay’s 43-point, four-dribble performance.

The post immediately produced questions if this was an effort from James, master recruiter to sell Thompson on LA. That’s where he grew up and his dad, Mychal, is an ex-Showtime Laker turned team broadcaster.
