Tim Lincecum, the former longtime Giants star, is closing in on a return to the big leagues and could be headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports and MLB Network.

Heyman lists the Dodgers and Texas Rangers as Lincecum’s chief suitors, both willing to extend the 34-year-old, who’s been out of MLB since 2016, a major league deal. Per Heyman, the Dodgers are among the teams that have expressed “very strong interest” in the erstwhile ace.

Lincecum, who’s getting ready to head to Arizona, is expected to make a decision in the “next day or so.” The Giants interest in the two-time Cy Young Award winner is more tepid:

“The Giants are believed interested but so far not at the level of a handful of other teams that committed to an MLB deal,” Heyman reported.

Lincecum, who last pitched for the Giants in 2015, made nine starts, racking up a 9.16 ERA, for the Los Angeles Angels the year after that.
