A day after selecting offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey with the No. 9 overall pick in 2018 NFL Draft, the 49ers are reportedly sending fellow tackle Trent Brown to New England.

Brown, who was a seventh-round selection in 2015, was placed on injured reserve in December with a season-ending shoulder injury after starting in 26 consecutive games for San Francisco.

The 6-foot-8, 355-pounder was a pass-protecting force alongside Joe Staley, but the team had other ideas with his contract set to expire after this season.

During the 49ers’ press conference following the first-round selection last night, head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch had anticipated Brown to be healthy and ready for training camp.
