Taulia Tagovailoa, younger brother and former college teammate of Miami Dolphins first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa, is done rolling tide. According to beat reporter Matt Zenitz of AL.com, the freshman quarterback has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, effectively ending his tenure at Alabama.

A former four-star recruit out of Hawaii, Taulia didn’t see much playing time in Tuscaloosa, attempting just 12 passes as a true freshman in 2019. The 5’11” Tagovailoa likely saw the writing on the wall with Mac Jones and potentially incoming freshman Bryce Young—USA Today’s reigning High School Offensive Player of the Year—both ahead of him on the Crimson Tide’s depth chart. It’s unclear where the right-handed QB (unlike his southpaw older brother) will head next, though some are speculating he’ll land at the University of Miami. The Hurricanes, of course, share a home field (Hard Rock Stadium) with the Dolphins.

Tua may be more established than his younger sibling, but of the Tagovailoa brothers, Taulia was actually the superior high-school performer, compiling an absurd 14,207 yards with 135 touchdown passes in four prep seasons between Saint Louis High School in Honolulu (a school that also produced former Heisman winner Marcus Mariota) and Thompson High in Alabaster, Alabama.
