The reigning champ Warriors plan to be exceedingly cautious when it comes to their newest All-Star, DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins, inked to a one-year, $5.3 million deal, is currently working his way back from a torn left Achilles that he sustained at the end of January. While Cousins had previously suggested he’s aiming to be ready for training camp, Warriors basketball czar Bob Myers has a much different target in mind.

"The goal for us is to have him in the playoffs," Myers said Sunday, per Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. "That doesn't mean we'll wait until the playoffs. When he's ready to play, he'll play. We just don't know when that will be."

Cousins, who's entering his ninth season for a team that's won three of four times, has never appeared in a playoff game.
