Mychal Thompson stopped by “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill on Monday and shed some light on his son Klay’s left ankle injury.

“He was probably playing at 50-percent capacity," Thompson said on 95.7 The Game.

The high ankle sprain occurred on the following play during the first quarter of Game 1.

“(He was) just playing on adrenaline and passion alone because he knows how much this means to him and his team and to the Warriors fans and organization,” Thompson said. “He wanted to be a part of it.”

The elder Thompson also addressed Klay’s pending contract situation, explaining that he doesn’t anticipate a deal being struck this summer.

“The Warriors should pursue it, but Klay is just thinking about, I believe...

Klay stands to benefit significantly from a financial perspective if he waits until next summer when his current four-year pact is up.

“I think he should wait another year,” Thompson said. “There’s no rush. There’s no reason to rush into anything. This team is going to be together for the next five years. So, no reason to rush anything right now.”
