Crawford set for All-Star start as Posey joins in reserve

Giants SS received nearly twice as many votes as top competitor in fan vote

Two San Francisco Giants will be headed to Washington D.C. for the 89th Midsummer Classic on July 17th at Nationals Park. Shortstop Brandon Crawford was a landslide winner for the G-Men in the fan voting for the National League.

Crawford earned 3,212,103 votes to 1,805,856 for second-place finisher Addison Russell of the Chicago Cubs. This will be the shortstop's second All-Star selection and his first start. Crawford was a reserve in 2015. 

Buster Posey earned his sixth All-Star selection as a reserve by winning the players' vote. Brandon Belt could also wind up on the National League roster. The first baseman was named a "Final Vote Candidate." Belt won that competitio back in 2016. Fans can vote on digital devices via the MLB At Bat and MLB Ballpark mobile apps until Wednesday, July 11th at 1pm.
