Following Jason La Canfora’s Sunday morning report that Todd Downing is “unlikely” to return to his post as Raiders offensive coordinator in 2018, the CBS Sports insider joined “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill to discuss what the rookie OC can do to save his job.

“It’s not looking good. I’ll put it that way,” La Canfora said on Wednesday afternoon on 95.7 The Game.

As La Canfora noted, the suspension of Michael Crabtree and the injuries to Amari Cooper have only complicated the situation.

“It’s going to be an uphill climb for the people on that staff to perform to a degree where there’s not some other changes made there,” La Canfora said.

“I don’t think Ken Norton (Jr.) is the end of it by any stretch — without a real reversal and them producing at a very high clip down the stretch.”

La Canfora also offered the following nugget about how close Downing was to already losing his job.

“There were people who I talked to who thought it could have been either or at the point they made the change with Ken Norton,” La Canfora said. “Barring a collapse, I don’t see anything happening in season at this point.”
