Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden addressed the future of Marshawn Lynch, whose debut season with his hometown team was marred by on and off-the-field distractions.

While Gruden stopped short of guaranteeing Lynch a spot on the team, he did provide some clarity on the situation.

“There’s no question he’s still a beast that’s hard to bring down,” Gruden said. “One of the reasons I’m excited to be with the Raiders is to join forces with Lynch. But we’ll see what happens.”

Lynch ran for 891 yards and seven touchdowns on 207 carries.

“Obviously, we’ve got to take a look at the entire roster,” Gruden continued. “But I’m counting on him. I’m counting on him being a big part of our football team.”
