Even with Antonio Brown’s tumultuous end to the 2018 regular season, Jerry Rice is very much on board with the idea of the 49ers landing the seven-time pro bowler.

Or one Odell Beckham Jr., for that matter.

“I think Antonio Brown is an exceptional receiver,” Rice said on 95.7 The Game. “And we saw what Khalil Mack, what he did for the Chicago Bears. You got George Kittle already, if you bring in a player like, say, Antonio Brown or an OBJ — Odell Beckham — it can take that offense to a whole different level.”

Brown was absent from the Steelers’ Week 17 win after he reportedly threw a football at Ben Roethlisberger and proceeded to skip practice.

The following Twitter exchange between Brown, and Kittle, poured lighter fluid on the speculation that Brown could become a Niner.

“I know for one thing, with Antonio Brown, he’s a complete player and he’s going to bring everything to the football field,” Rice continued. “He’s a team player and he’s going to go out, he’s going to work his butt off, but right now there is something happening in Pittsburgh.”

“But I think it would be a great addition to the San Francisco 49ers.”

The following tweet explains just how difficult, from a financial perspective, it would be to bring Brown to Santa Clara.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk ID’d Beckham as a more obtainable target.

“The 49ers considered it during that window last year when Beckham seemed to be available, and there’s already buzz this year that, if he’s available, the 49ers would be interested.”
