Hall of Famer, GOAT and 95.7 The Game contributor Jerry Rice is adding yet another title, as the 49ers have named the former wide receiver honorary chairman of the club’s foundation.

As the inaugural honorary chairman, Rice will work with a variety of the foundations programs, including the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute, 49ers Academy, 49ers EDU and 49ers PREP.

“The 49ers Foundation has been around for nearly three decades and does a lot of great work to help underserved kids across the Bay Area,” Rice said in a statement. “I’m excited to team up with them to give our youth a better shot at being great.”

Last year, the foundation poured $4 million into the Bay Area community. Over the course of 27 years, the foundation has invested more than $40 million.

"Our Foundation’s platform reaches, educates and engages tens of thousands of Bay Area youth annually through our diverse programming,” co-chair Dr. John York said. “Jerry will bring great awareness and energy to our robust slate of activities and I know our Bay Area beneficiaries will be greatly served by him as an extension of the Foundation.”
