On the heels of the 49ers’ unsightly 18-15 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, Jerry Rice made his weekly appearance on “Joe, Lo & Dibs” to assess the state of the club.

As disgruntlement grows amid the fan base, Rice said he maintains faith in head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, the team’s sophomore duo.

“I still believe in Kyle, and, also John Lynch,” Rice said on 95.7 The Game.

“The standard, all of that, it’s just getting more playmakers in. And the fans are going to have to be a little bit patient right now because you lose a player like Jimmy G. You lose the running back (Jerick McKinnon). You lose him and so many other players too.”

Joe: “There’s not a coach in the league that would have more than three wins with this roster.”

“So, I know it’s frustrating for the fans and these fans are true die-hard 49er fans and they come to the ballgame and they try to root their team on. But, right now, the Niners just don’t have the playmakers and I think it’s going to be up to Kyle Shanahan and also John Lynch to continue to build."

“And hopefully one day we can bring that dynasty back.”

While offering support for the top pairing, Rice said the following when Lorenzo Neal asked him  if foresees changes vis-a-vis the coaching staff at large.

“Well, Lo, you know that. Somebody is going to be the goat,” Rice explained.

“Okay. Someone is going to have to pay for it. So, I don’t know what they’re going to do right now, but yeah, I feel like there is probably going to be some changes. And with the season that the Niners having right now, they to shake everything up just a little bit.”
