Shortly after the 49ers announced that Greg Papa is set to become the new voice of the team, the co-host of “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill joined “Joe, Lo & Dibs” on Wednesday morning to explain how it all went down.

Most notably…

*Papa isn’t sure if he’ll use the “Touchdooown Niners” call

*This move has only been in the works since July when the Raiders let him go

Plus some memorable quotes, beginning with Papa becoming the first broadcaster to call games for the big five in the Bay:

“One of the things that I am proud of, and (Director of Broadcasting Partnerships) Bob (Sargent) and I talked about the concept of this weeks ago, was that I would be the first guy to broadcast the power five teams — the Warriors, the A’s, the Giants, the Raiders and now the 49ers," Papa said on 95.7 The Game.

On his plans to build his Niner legacy:

“It is going to be a little bit of an adjustment,” Papa said. “I’m sure it’s jarring to a lot of people but it is something that I hope I can honestly last — I did the Raiders games for 21 years and I’m hoping that I have the same length of time with the San Francisco 49ers.”
