Amid the backdrop of DeMarcus Cousins rounding into form with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Greg Papa is advising everyone to pump the breaks.

Calling into “Joe, Lo & Dibs” on Thursday morning, Papa hinted that Cousins could still be a month from making his Warriors’ debut.

“The feeling I got from being around it last night, DeMarcus is not nearly as close as we think he is,” Papa explained on 95.7 The Game. “This whole talk about him maybe playing Christmas or late December or January when they go to Sacramento…”

“I’m hearing well into January, maybe February before he comes back and it will be a full calendar year since he tore that Achilles.”

Cousins sustained his injury back on Jan. 26, with the Pelicans hosting the Rockets in NEw Orleans.

“So, he’s not on the horizon,” Papa continued. “But I think if you get him back in February, you have enough time to assess where he’s at — not only in games but in practice."
