Papa: ‘This is the best Golden State Warriors team we’ve ever seen’

The back-to-back champs have rolled out to a 10-1 start

On the heels of yet another Golden State Warriors’ win on Monday night, Greg Papa stopped by “Joe, Lo and Dibs” to help put the club’s striking start into perspective.

When Dan Dibley asked the co-host of “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill if the Warriors could eclipse the 70-win plateau, Papa answered as such:

“Ah, Dibs. They can win, honestly, if they really…

“80 is a little high. I was going to go to 76,” Papa said on 95.7 The Game. “And then I thought 78. Could you beat them four or six times?”

The only L for the 10-1 team came back on Oct. 21 when the Dubs fell, 100-98, to the Nuggets on the road.

“They lost one already, and the game they lost, they had a shot at the end of it. The shot got blocked and Draymond was open, Durant was open — Steph didn’t see him. You could have won that game in Denver.”

Back-to-back champion behavior.

“It’s whatever they choose to do. They are playing, as Bob Myers said the other night to me, ‘There’s a lightness about them this year.’ There’s no longer the heaviness, the burden of, ‘Why did Durant come here? And how are we going to do this? We’re stepping on each other’s toes. This is awkward.’”

“None of that. In the end, they did win the title the two years he’s been here. It hasn’t been that awkward. But whatever was going on last year with Draymond and others off the floor, it seems to have dissipated.”

Then the money quote.

“There’s a lightness to their game. This is the best team. I don’t know how many games they’re going to win, but this team, right here, right now, and we haven’t even added DeMarcus Cousins.”

“And I think there may be a point where they bring Cousins back where they may slid back a little bit because they have to integrate him in for a short period of time. But if he’s anything like the guy before, this is, without him, this is the best Golden State Warriors team we’ve ever seen.”
