If Klay Thompson’s left knee cooperates, the sharp-shooting guard is aiming to join Stephen Curry (and assistant coach Steve Kerr) on next summer’s Olympic squad.

Listen to your team news NOW.

“I would love to play for Team USA,” Thompson told Marcus Thompson II of the Athletic. “That is the plan. I would love to be on the Olympic team.”

Unlike Curry, who missed out on the 2016 games with a knee injury of his own, Thompson already owns a gold medal, secured during those Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Thompson underwent surgery on July 2, after sustaining the injury in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Warrior is looking at a six to nine month recovery.
