Damion Lee wants everyone to know that he's not just Stephen Curry's brother-in-law. He's much more than that.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Following Day 3 of the Golden State Warriors training camp, Lee met with the media.

Unprompted, Lee let everyone know he's not here because of his famous relative. He's here because he worked hard to be where he's at.

"At the end of the day my name is Damion Lee. It doesn't matter who I'm married to," Lee said. "I want people to respect that for me. I work hard for this sh--. I've battled. I've battled. I'm battle-tested. Going through a broken hand, two ACLs. Like I've gone through a lot of sh-- during my career to get me to this point."

The 26-year-old has indeed gone through a lot in his basketball career. In 2013 while playing for the Drexel Dragons, Lee tore his ACL. During his redshirt junior season he broke his right shooting hand. In 2016 he suffered another torn ACL.

People assume that his brother-in-law helped get him in the door with the Warriors, but that's not the case. In an article written last March by Connor Letourneau, it was revealed that the Warriors had been watching Lee before his relationship with Sydel Curry became public.

He first caught Golden State's attention during his redshirt junior year at Drexel.

Sydel Curry shared support for her husband on social media following his comments to the media. She tweeted:

"Period. Put some respek on my man's name!"
