The Warriors aren’t due to deliver an injury update on Kevin Durant until Thursday, but owner Joe Lacob has shed some light on the forward’s status for the upcoming NBA Finals, per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

“I don’t know if you forgot so quickly how in the first round, and the second round, and how everyone was saying Kevin was the greatest player in the world and he was dominant," Lacob told Amick. "So he was incredibly important.

Durant has been absent since Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Rockets when he sustained a calf strain.

"Unfortunately, he got injured. He’s coming back now for the Finals, and so the story’s not fully written yet."

Game 1 of the NBA Finals arrives on May 30, in either Milwaukee or Toronto. Thursday’s update should provide more insight as to whether Durant will be good to go for the opener.
