Draymond Green had high hopes for DeMarcus Cousins, his friend and old teammate. That was before Cousins’ ACL tear wrecked his summer and left his debut year with the Lakers in doubt.

Listen to your team news NOW.

"One of my goals coming into this season was for DeMarcus to destroy everybody and come back and show how great of a player he is and get what I think he deserves," Green told The Undefeated's Marc Spears, per ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

Cousins, who tore his ACL on Monday during a workout in Las Vegas, had recently joined the Lakers on a one-year pact after spending the 2018-19 season in Golden State.

"I'm really at a loss for words about it. It's one that really hurt me for sure,” Green continued.

On Thursday, TMZ Sports posted the video of the play on which the injury occurred. It’s jarring.

“I’m devastated for DeMarcus. It’s been a couple of years of hell,” Steve Kerr, Cousins’ former Warriors coach, said at Team USA camp where he’s an assistant.

“I was really hoping this season would be a chance to get healthy. We’re all crushed for him.”
