DeMarcus Cousins is feeling good about his free-agency decision, as he detailed in a post on The Players' Tribune.

"A year from now, looking back, I know this is going to be the best decision I ever made," Cousins said.

Boogie knows.

After suffering a torn Achilles tendon on Jan. 26, Cousins enterted free agency in the summer.

"Then free agency hit. It was a lot of, 'We might be interested. We don’t know if it’s the right fit,'" Cousins recalled. "All of a sudden, I wasn’t hearing from the Pelicans. I wasn’t hearing from no one. That was tough."

His decision to sign with the Warriors came as a shock to just about everybody — including Warriors general manager Bob Myers.

"On God, Bob thought it was a prank. He asked us like five times if we were being serious. I broke it down as clear as I could."

"And I said I’d take the minimum. I just wanted a team that wanted me."

Cousins won't be ready to make his regular-season debut for a quite few months as he continues to rehab from his Achilles tear. But as the Warriors aim for their fifth-straight NBA Finals appearance, it's the postseason that really matters.

"I wanted to play on the biggest stage and make the most impact I could."

Warriors basketball returns Saturday, Sept. 29 with their preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The regular-season begins Oct. 16 at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
