Leave it to Colin Cowherd, host of “The Herd” on FS1 and FOX Sports Radio, to drop one hell of a rant on the Raiders’ weekend decision to exit the Khalil Mack business.

Suffice it to say that Cowherd’s name can be added to the chorus of detractors.

“Khalil Mack is everything you’re trying to find in the NFL. Every single person in the NFL is trying to find basically the same thing — a great player, who plays at a really important position that’s a great guy in the locker room.”

“And the Raiders had it and gave him up. Because, you know, he was really expensive.”

“Dude, so is filet mignon. So is a Mercedes-Benz. So is staying at the Ritz-Carlton. Like, you’ve got to get comfortable with that, right?”

“I understand if the Raiders didn’t have a star quarterback. And they thought to themselves, ‘Oh lord. We’ve got to give up this defensive guy (and) get a bunch of picks to get a quarterback.”

“But they do. They have Derek Carr.”

“I would get if the Raiders didn’t have somebody to protect their quarterback, their offensive linemen. And they say, ‘You know what, we got a quarterback, we got to protect him and we’re going to give up this great player to get it.”

“But timeout. The Raiders do have a great quarterback. They do have a good offensive line. So, the next thing the Raiders would want is a great pass rusher. And they gave him up. What are you doing?”

The Bears gave up up first-round picks in 2019 and 2020, a third-round pick in 2020 and a sixth-round pick in 2019. Meanwhile, the Raiders gave up Mack, a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2020

“Do you know what they’re going to do with those two draft picks they got? Try to find the next Khalil Mack. And they won’t because he’s a once in a franchise player.”
