Bleacher Report's Chris Simms offered a bullish assessment of the 49ers offense entering Year 1 of head coach Kyle Shanahan's reign in Santa Clara.

“If I'm a 49ers fan, just get ready because it's the first time in a few years — I mean, even before Jim Harbaugh — that you're going to have a legit offense that's going to be able to put points and yards on the field week-to-week,” Simms said. “That's what I would be excited about.”

Asked for a player to watch out for, Simms highlighted a pair of young 49ers defenders in Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster, going so far as to compare the latter to one of the greatest players in recent team history.

“It could be Patrick Willis Jr. right there,” Simms said of Foster.
