NAPA — The countdown to Week 1 continues at Raiders camp in wine country and today’s practice was their best by far.

According to reports, the defense was flying around today and showed toughness against one of the best offenses in the NFL, however, the most important part of practice today was the fact that Mario Edwards Jr., Bruce Irvin and Amari Cooper all suited up and practiced.

The health of Edwards Jr. is extremely important for this Raiders’ defense that struggled generating a consistent pass rush a season ago. Reigning defensive player of the year Khalil Mack will see a lot of double-teams this season putting the onus on Mack and Irvin to win their one-on-one matchups and apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

On another hot, muggy day in Napa, we caught up with newly acquired wide receiver, Cordarrelle Patterson on why he signed with the Oakland Raiders, Sebastian Janikowski on what he expects from this team, and cornerback Sean Smith on how he expects to play a lot better in his second season with the Raiders.

Papa and I will be back in Napa Friday afternoon. Should be a fun show as Derek Carr, Clive Walford and Marquel Lee will stop by to chat with us about the upcoming 2017 season.

If you missed any of the interviews today, go to and listen back to all of the great content from earlier today.
