Suffice it to say that the opening months of the 2018 season have not gone to plan for one Klay Thompson.

After a 2-for-7 shooting night in the Christmas loss to the Lakers, Thompson is sporting his worst field-goal percentage since the 2012-13 season and his worst 3-point percentage in his entire NBA career.

Amid the downturn, Mychal Thompson, dad of Klay and broadcaster for the Lakers, swung by “The Damon Bruce Show” to break it all down. The elder Thompson insisted that his son’s impending free agency — Klay hits the free-agent market this summer — hasn’t factored into the struggles.

“No. Not at all,” Thompson said on 95.7 The Game. “He’s not thinking about that at all. We never talk about that. He never brings it up. He just wants to help his team win and do his part consistently."
