The 49ers have added a new name to the backfield, striking a deal with running back Tevin Coleman, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

In the wake of missing out on Le’Veon Bell, who picked the Jets despite a “strong push” from the Niners, the club has still assembled a stable of backs. As Schefter pointed out, Coleman and head coach Kyle Shanahan are old friends.

Last year, Coleman, who turns 26 in April, set career highs in rushes (167) and yards (800). Coleman also hauled in 32 catches for 276 yards.
